本专著根据英国著名文体学家理奇所提出的文学文体分析模型，借用语料库语言学的方法，集中从《圣经》文本和海明威文本的词法、句法、篇章和修辞四个维度比较它们之间在遣词、选句、谋篇和修辞的异同，并进行了详尽的分析。研究结果认为，海明威的文体风格在如上四个方面的确存在着一定的渊源关系，海明威作品在很大程度上继承了圣经文学的文体传统。
