《全唐文》共1000卷，收录唐五代作者三千馀人，文18480多篇。其体例完全仿《全唐诗》，按帝王、后妃、宗师诸王、臣工、释道、闺秀等作者身份分类，作者名下有小传。在收录中订正了不少前人之错误，采集也较广泛全备，但也摒了弃一些编者认为不合道德标准的散文。《全唐文》是一部研究唐代散文必备的资料。
